Photographic Research and Inquiry

I love this photo because I like going to the beach whether it is during spring break, labor day, or even just on the weekends. Every time I look at this image, I think of my family, how we get together during the summers and enjoy each other’s company. I see this image as a getaway place, a place to relax, where I do not have to worry about anything and just have fun. I like how this image portrays a variety of techniques. The time of day this photo was captured gives it a nice touch of lighting, neither overexposed nor underexposed. I like the alternate point of view of the beach because it gives it that special effect rather than just taking a simple, straight-forward portrait of it. The frame within a frame technique and the perspective of the beach is what actually caught my eye in the first place.  Although the camera’s lens is centered, the actual image of the beach follows the rule of thirds with the rocks on the left, and the sun slightly to the right. If you look closely, you can see lines converging towards the sides of the photograph. They are not actually lines, but the outline of the water and rocks seem to converge together. Even though you cannot see much detail of the water, rocks, or sky, you can still see what the overall image is.
